We got a phone call from IGAA 6-13-03 about our court date on 7-16-03. We left on July 9th for Russia. We made it back home with our three new additions (Philip-14, Sarah-12, and Samuel-11) on July 27th, 2003. Thanks to all for all the prayers and support. God bless each and every one of you. The Carrillo Family (Craig, Kim, Stephanie, Alan, Michelle, Philip, Sarah, Samuel)
August 22, 2002 Dearest Family and Friends, It was about 5 years ago that the Lord gave us a desire to have more children. Around that same time, Isaiah 54:2 was spoken over us in prayer. "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.” That was confirmation to us what God had previously put on our hearts. He was going to add to our family, but it wasn't clear how; so we just waited on Him. Henry Blackaby, in his book, Experiencing God wrote," When you have not heard from God, pray and continue to do what He had you doing last." We continued praying for His will to be done and He began to work on our hearts. That was then… Praise the Lord for the great things He has done! As we type this letter our family is in the third and last week of hosting a family of three children from Penza, Russia. Pasha (13-boy), Sveta (11-girl) and Sergey (10-boy) came to the U.S. as part of an orphan exchange program coordinated and facilitated by International Guardian Angels Adoption (IGAA). The orphans are placed with volunteer host families that provide for the children's needs during their stay. At the same time, they share the love of God in a family environment. During this three week stay God has and continues to move mightily, touching the hearts of those willing to open their lives and love to these orphans. To be totally honest, we were prompted to start the adoption paperwork before the children ever arrived in the U.S. We knew in our hearts that God’s will was for these three kids to be part of this family. With the assistance of an interpreter our family recently shared with Pasha, Sveta and Sergey that God loved them and brought all three of them to us. When we asked them if they wanted to be part of this family, all three kids unanimously responded “da” or yes. Sergey and Pasha then began to cry and said that they wanted to stay here and not return to Russia because it was going to take too long. Here we are now, depending totally on the Lord, exactly where Gods wants us. We do not have the finances to adopt these three children and we don't feel God wants us to go in debt to do it. We believe in our hearts that He wants to work in a way that we know it's Him and not us so He will get all the glory. The Lord's will for our family has been confirmed to us through scripture, prayer, family, and friends, but we are to walk by faith and not by feeling or by what we see. A friend of ours said, "When God orders something, He pays for it." This is truly God-sized. The future for children in Russian orphanages is very grim. IGAA has been working for the past 5 years to bring the gospel and care to the 1,000 orphans in the Penza region alone. Due to the struggling economy, these children have a difficult time securing higher education and employment. Most of the girls are forced into prostitution; boys into crime to survive. Our hearts are grieved to think of this future for any child. We are seeking your help in two ways.
As most of
you are well aware, the cost of adoption is great. The estimated total costs
are approximately $30,000.00. Please feel free to share this
letter as the Lord leads you with all that might be interested in helping.
Our love and gratefulness to you all, Photo Page
